Avoid power of contrasting sensations

An interesting piece of article in MINT i came across today...

Yoga experts strongly believe in the power of contrasting sensations. If you walk out of an overly air-conditioned room, you will feel the heat more intensely. Similarly a cold water bath can actually end up making you fell warmer rather than cooler afterwards.

Part of the requirement for yoga therapists in training is bathing with cold water in winter and warm water in summer. But you don't have to go to extremes to reap the benefits of this very workable trick. Just bathe with slightly tepid water instead of hot water in summer.

While you may feel a little bit of discomfort initially, eventually you feel a lot cooler than before.

Indian Panga Leak

A very interesting article i found today on IPL (Indian paisa, panga..leak..)..on the murky canvas of Modi - Tharoor spat..http://bit.ly/bFx8BX -  Is this the world we live in..Politics and murky dirty affairs in every sphere of life..THE IPL ISN’T ABOUT CRICKET. IT’S ABOUT BIG MONEY, POLITICS, SEX AND DRUGS.

It makes me think 'Is it not possible to conduct a business on credible lines?' 'Wherever big money circulates, there is politics and jealously involved?' 'Can nobody come up in politics and business unscathed?'

Lessons learnt from ShashiT fiasco

Its been long time since I posted in my blog. Everything time I start thinking of what to post, my mind only gets clouded with thoughts that I end up writing nothing. Finally after many days decided to pen down my thoughts/ philosophy/ wisdom/ random ramblings (whatever you call) in me.

Ok, its been an interesting(?!) last week with news of IPL/ ST/ Modi flouting through the media. Not being just a mute spectator, here are some gyaan I acquired from this muddle.

• Is India the place where even the untainted person in international sphere can become corrupt

• Indian politicians cannot tolerate a smarter and suave guy? Does it give them inferiority complex. Is Indian politics only for dumb and stupid people

• He was a different breed of person – erudite, evangelized with enthusiasm and energy and was open to any dialogue. He could have bred new breed of politicians. India needed such a kind of person when Indian politics needed to revamp to global standards. We need talent in Indian politics.

• Don’t play single anywhere – Act in a group - If ST was the MP from Trinamool Congress or DMK or NCP then congress would have saved him inside out – he was considered an outsider even within Congress with no real political friends - so ST in some ways was a soft target?

• So when we do things our way, we must be willing to take responsibility if things go wrong

• He was controversy’s favorite pal. It’s funny when you speak your mind, people assume the worst in you. Thus, be politically correct (whether it’s a truth or a lie). People are happy then.

• India is the only place where you will become victim for your own success

However smart and glib he is, he should have known, WHEN IN ROME, DO AS ROMANS DO; WHEN IN INDIA, DO AS INDIANS DO; WHEN IN INDIAN POLITICS, DO AS INDIAN POLITICIANS DO. He cannot carry his same international persona everywhere.

• Is education and good English a reason for not being corrupt

• He should have kept his profile low until the time is ripe. Hope he learns his lessons well in this hibernation period.

• Since middle class people don’t know the works that he do/ comment on the works he do (because its high end and not understandable by common man), they rather comment on his persona and language. Strange and weird things appeal to them more always.

• So, in politics and public sphere, whatever work you do, you need to interpret them in common man's way and only then you can connect/ relate you and your work with people around you. Or else people with misinterpret you and when any crisis happens you will be commented only on the non-essentials. The essentials will hide back behind the veils.

• So is it that India and Indian media misunderstood ST – his sensibility and vocabulary.

Moral: TALENT IS NOT ENOUGH – DEXTERITY IS NEEDED.

( I don’t back anybody. Personally I believed that the only problem with ST was being super smart, glib, irresponsible, flamboyant and handsome. And that he had no reasons for being corrupt. But slowly this notion of him (in me) is changing and doubt if he is a sophisticated criminal. Who knows? It would have been good of him and Sunanda to have cleared this mess and prove that they are not guilty. But instead, she surrendered the equity and he the post. Sweetheart actions? Now that he has resigned, his guilt is no more a story, but a history. Time only will tell if he bounces back into action after hibernation or seek refuge in other abode/ ventures. Remember, after his thirty year UN stint he became the chairman of Dubai-based Afras Ventures in 2007, but quit the job when he contested the parliamentary elections in 2009.)

(And speaking of Modi, he was undoubtedly the best in churning money out of IPL. IPL which earned in a little over millions before him had cash rain of over a billion after. He had relentless and get go energy. He wanted to create all the time. His vast networking skill is a thing to be awed. But with no regulation for IPL, he was running it like a personal fiefdom and unknown and strange equity holders in it and his family members also having stake. Although very capable he is, running this huge nexus group (people who even don’t know the meaning of bat and ball) involving stakeholders, cricketers, bollywood, politicians, D-group involves compromises, nepotism and corruption on the way. Could he then have been untainted? Whatever it is, now that he is caught, bowled and stumped can anyone replace his position and take the IPL forward without losing its sheen and enthusiasm.)
