Take time to meditate

The new age person keeps multitasking…s/he wants to try out all the things in the world…we are clouded with thoughts, ideas and things-to-do list…we don’t get to have ‘MY TIME…or find THE TRUE ME’…we keep juggling tasks between home, office and the social life… we are confronted with solutions to be taken… we meet a few snobbish people along the way…sometimes their thoughts are imposed on us…our energies are scattered…are we plagued?

Don’t worry…MEDITATE…take time for it…REALX…great way to gather up all your scattered energies…meditate early in the morning…or seclude yourself with only your thought when you feel you are squandered away…TRY TO REALISE WHO YOU ARE, WHAT YOU ARE WORTH AND YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE…the gathered energy will take you places…you can view world in a whole new light…meditation is BLISS

Don’t feel guilty to take out time for yourself…it may sound selfish, but it’s honestly the only cure for anyone who has to seek refuge and consolation in oneself

The person who knows his TRUE SELF will come out unscathed from whatever situation he confronts. Meditation gives us wisdom.

Here is the coolest animation ever on how meditation helps (Courtsey: www.1000petals.wordpress.com)

First they ignore you, then laugh at you, then they fight you, THEN YOU WIN

Happened to bounce upon these lyric by Robbie Williams…found it interesting and felt these lines closer to my heart in some way…

First they ignore you
Then laugh at you and hate you
Then they fight you
Then you win
When the truth dies very bad things happen
They're being heartless again
I know it's coming and there's going to be violence
I've taken as much as I'm willing to take
Why do you think we should suffer in silence?
When a heart is broken there's nothing to break.
…….
You don't want the truth the truth is boring
I've got this fever, need to
Leave the house
Leave the car
Leave the bad men where they are
I leave a few shells in my gun
N' stop me staring at the sun....

Attempted to make my own interpretation to these lines

IT'S A MAD MAD WORLD…truth doesn’t survive…rather has a short life…only the treacherous and unscrupulous people (seem to) have their way…first they ignore you, then laugh at you and hate you…yes I’ve taken as much as I’m willing to take…but now I don’t want to suffer in silence…I am now ready to speak out, fight against them…I know its coming and there’s going to be violence…so when the truth dies very bad things happen, but they have to happen…ultimately the truth only wins…truth triumphs….

Countless cover ups and conspiracy leads us to great unstability…it’s a vicious cycle which may run deep

So, I am right now leaving the place, leave the bad men where they are, leave all the material things behind…but remember I have a gun with me for protection and my rightful soul behind me…BEWARE

Truth will triumph…will come back with vigour

Reduce debts please

What you see here in the picture is the National Debt Clock in the USA. Its intention is to inform and make people aware and conscious of the financial condition of their country. The clock is located near Touristry Times Square.

The clock is owned and maintained by the Durst organization. It is said that Seymour Durst, the late real estate mogul and the inventor of the clock  had been toying with the basic idea of drawing attention to the growing national debt since at least 1980, when during the holiday season he sent cards that said "Happy New Year. Your share of the national debt is $35,000" to senators and congressmen!

The clock was finally put up in 1989 at a cost of $100,000 when the US governments debt was a mere $ 2. 7 trillion. When the debt decreased during the 1990’s, the clock was even turned off as the clock was not properly designed to run backwards. An updated model which could run backwards was installed in 2004. In 2008, the U.S. national debt exceeded $10 trillion for the first time with the financial crisis beginning in 2007.

The new clock set up in 2009 will be able to track debt up to a quadrillion dollars! (which is a 1 followed by 15 zeros)

Also visit this site www.usdebtclock.org. A good effort to inform public of the most accurate up-to-date debt information possible. The site says ‘America is a proud country with a long history of triumphing over extreme circumstances. The debt crisis that the Government and individuals face is the most pressing issue of our time. We must begin to confront this challenge head-on and not squander away the future financial health of this nation’. The site shows public debt to GDP ratio and external debt to GDP ratio of various countries. It also shows some interesting up-to-date information on auto sales by brand, energy consumption and gold holding by country.

Hope someone in India also comes out with such an effort to inform the public of their debt. But whether someone reminds us or not, let’s remind ourselves and not leverage our spending too much but live and do business/ run government within our means. And its also our moral duty to pay our taxes regularly. Taxes are the simplest and important source of government revenue.

Green vs White

Being a thinking person that I am…either of work/ study related or even of mundane topics, I do a lot of research…I can spend a whole day googling from one topic to the next.

What if Google didn’t exist…so what, you have the library…read through books and white papers of journals.

So what I am trying to tell now…when I was reading through some papers….just clicked me then….well, we come across as simple as an article to a research paper, case study, discussion paper, green paper, position paper and white paper…probably we have read through white papers…but why is it named so…and what is that green paper and position paper…have we thought through that…

Green paper is the first step in changing the law: the Government Department sponsoring a policy and associated legislative changes are presented as a discussion or consultation document known as a Green Paper. Hence green paper is the preliminary report of government proposals published to stimulate discussion. It is used mostly in Britain and other Commonwealth jurisdictions (e.g.Australia) and the republic of Ireland.
Green paper is a proposal rather than a commitment to action, it is more a tool of stimulating discussion, but it is often the first step towards changing the law. Many Green Papers lead to the production of a White Paper.

So when the white paper version eventually appeared you would know it had probably passed the 'smell test' and is much closer to becoming a policy statement.

A Green Paper is called a Green Paper because they were historically printed on green paper. This was to distinguish them from other documents, such as white papers, which are so called because they were historically published without covers and were bound in plain white paper. So green is for consultation, white for proposal.

Then you have the position paper on green paper… A position paper is an essay that presents an opinion about an issue, typically that of the author or another specified entity; such as a political party. Position papers are published in academia, in politics, in law and other domains. In government, a position paper lies somewhere between a white paper and a green paper in that they affirm definite opinions and propose solutions but may not go so far as detailing specific plans for implementation.

Hmmm…given that my blog page is green, can I now tell I am taking first steps towards changing something around me :)

What's your Biorhythm today?

Do you feel all charged up today…ready to handle all tasks with gusto…and to conquer oceans (or) do you feel that you just want the day to end up fast…

How temperamental are you today…will your actions be predictable (or) are you too moody, sensitive and irritable…

Are you too perceptive and alert today….do your colleagues see your antennas wired high up (or) do you feel where the hell is my thinking cap….

Of course, you can sense that your physical, emotional and intellectual level are not the same every day. Why did it take a long time for me to update my blog. I can get to think and write something only when I am in a deep introspective mood. May be I was on a different plane altogether on the other days. WHY?

The cycles (physical, emotional, intellectual) which exert influence on your behaviour are called BIORTHYMS. Your biorhythm chart is based on your date of birth. Understanding your biorhythm will give you a deeper understanding of your behavior.

Biorhythms are inherent cycles which regulate memory, ambition, coordination, endurance, temperament, emotions, and much more. We each have three fundamental biorhythm cycles. Each biorhythm cycle has a particular function, and a particular life cycle. On the day you are born your biorhythm starts at a neutral point and begins to rise in a positive phase.

Our physical biorhythm cycle completes one life cycle in 23 days. Our emotional biorhythm cycle lasts 28 days, and our intellectual biorhythm cycle lasts 33 days. At mid point and end point in each cycle, they sharply move back to zero point and change polarity. The day a cycle changes polarity is called a transition day (also called a critical day, or caution day).

Transition days are the days when we may feel a little off, or have a downright bad day. A double transition day is when two of your cycles transition on the same day. This day may be difficult. A triple transition day is when three of your cycles transition on the same day. Triple transition days are rare, occurring once every 7-8 years.

The result of these overlapping cycles of energies is that our creativity and performance are a composite of these different rhythms and each day will be a unique combination of these 3 cycles.

So what’s your Biorhythm today? Check out

What is TRUE INDEPENDENCE

Every year on August 15th, every Indian shouts from the top of the roof ‘WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT INDIA’.

Yes, India as a country was Independent from the British dominance on August 15th, 1947. It is a golden day to be remembered…to remember the conviction our freedom fighters had in them…for their continued rebellion they had with the British …for the thousands of precious lives lost…for the deep down voice which every Indian had then.. ‘WE WILL ONE DAY BE INDEPENDENT’.

Ultimately for all the conviction we had, sun set in the British Empire and rose in the Indian Fortress.

But I don’t think the sun has ever shown very bright.

Every time the sun shines bright, there seems to come a passing dark cloud and curbs the rise. True, we have many in our country who truly understand themselves and also want to improve the lives of other denizens around them. For every one such people, there are thousands other unscrupulous men and women who either mock, deride, or turn the good course the other way for their selfish needs. With such a bleak scenario, how can we expect a prosperous India? It is not to say that we have not grown through times. ALL THE GROWTH WE SEE IS ONLY VANITY. Have all the resources and facilities reached all our people in equal measure…No. TO PUT IN A NUTSHELL, WE ARE A COUNTRY OF IMBALANCES.

It is clearly beyond a shadow of doubt that there should be leaders and politicians with a holistic perspective and a vision that envisages the whole of India to rise together. The Indian diaspora should render yeoman’s service.

How can we develop a holistic perspective. The answer to this is SELF RELIASATION

The whole universe is within us.

When we realise us, we understand the world better

IT IS THE UNREALISED GAP AND UNTAPPED POTENTIAL IN YOU THAT CAUSES ALL THE EGO AND CONFLICTS AROUND. Once you start understanding the meaning of your existence in this world…once you know you have a mission to perform, your inner conflicts vanish and you merge with the people around. You become selfless. You get enlightenment. You don’t feel threatened by others. You then have freedom in thoughts, words and actions. That is true independence. The world will then be a happy place to live. This happiness is infectious. Can you now realise the difference it will make when every Indian understands the philosophy of their life.

JAI HIND!

LIVE AND LET LIVE!

Power of Rain

Wow, it's that time of the year again.
Rain..Rain..has come again..
The scorching heat has gone into slain.
Give your creative musings a beam,
Although childish it may seem.

I lay in my bed crestfallen
And there was nobody with me to embolden
My mind kept hovering around my worries
And there laid unanswered many of my worries

Lonely, I strode to my garden
To watch out for the Nature’s caravan

Suddenly, there was lightning and thunder with its full might
Turned my mood very garish and bright
Then came the heavy downpour
And I was led to the Nature’s door

Humming, dancing, jumping…filled with joy
I was singing with the full might of my voice
“Wow! It’s a rainy day
Put all your worries at bay
Your dreams are now at a sway
It’s in the Nature’s lap that you lay
Have a small merry-go-around in the rain full of gay
All the enjoyment is for free with no pay”

The rain has ceased
But the sway of my mood has never ceased

A mild wind was blowing on my face
My soul was set at a new pace

The songs of the birds were so mellifluous
Singing their song in a big chorus
I love to cherish the smell of the sand
Made a great feeling that I was in the Nature’s land
The garden looked fresh and anew
Flowers were adorned with pearls in the form of water dew
The bright streak of sun’s ray’s
Fell on the garden’s way
Far above in the sky was also the rainbow’s ring
The sight of which was so scintillating

With a great yell asked the rain to come again another day
To enjoy the bond with the rain and play

Rain – really enthralled and enlightened my mind
Has the power even to heal the blind

Avoid power of contrasting sensations

An interesting piece of article in MINT i came across today...

Yoga experts strongly believe in the power of contrasting sensations. If you walk out of an overly air-conditioned room, you will feel the heat more intensely. Similarly a cold water bath can actually end up making you fell warmer rather than cooler afterwards.

Part of the requirement for yoga therapists in training is bathing with cold water in winter and warm water in summer. But you don't have to go to extremes to reap the benefits of this very workable trick. Just bathe with slightly tepid water instead of hot water in summer.

While you may feel a little bit of discomfort initially, eventually you feel a lot cooler than before.

Indian Panga Leak

A very interesting article i found today on IPL (Indian paisa, panga..leak..)..on the murky canvas of Modi - Tharoor spat..http://bit.ly/bFx8BX -  Is this the world we live in..Politics and murky dirty affairs in every sphere of life..THE IPL ISN’T ABOUT CRICKET. IT’S ABOUT BIG MONEY, POLITICS, SEX AND DRUGS.

It makes me think 'Is it not possible to conduct a business on credible lines?' 'Wherever big money circulates, there is politics and jealously involved?' 'Can nobody come up in politics and business unscathed?'

Lessons learnt from ShashiT fiasco

Its been long time since I posted in my blog. Everything time I start thinking of what to post, my mind only gets clouded with thoughts that I end up writing nothing. Finally after many days decided to pen down my thoughts/ philosophy/ wisdom/ random ramblings (whatever you call) in me.

Ok, its been an interesting(?!) last week with news of IPL/ ST/ Modi flouting through the media. Not being just a mute spectator, here are some gyaan I acquired from this muddle.

• Is India the place where even the untainted person in international sphere can become corrupt

• Indian politicians cannot tolerate a smarter and suave guy? Does it give them inferiority complex. Is Indian politics only for dumb and stupid people

• He was a different breed of person – erudite, evangelized with enthusiasm and energy and was open to any dialogue. He could have bred new breed of politicians. India needed such a kind of person when Indian politics needed to revamp to global standards. We need talent in Indian politics.

• Don’t play single anywhere – Act in a group - If ST was the MP from Trinamool Congress or DMK or NCP then congress would have saved him inside out – he was considered an outsider even within Congress with no real political friends - so ST in some ways was a soft target?

• So when we do things our way, we must be willing to take responsibility if things go wrong

• He was controversy’s favorite pal. It’s funny when you speak your mind, people assume the worst in you. Thus, be politically correct (whether it’s a truth or a lie). People are happy then.

• India is the only place where you will become victim for your own success

However smart and glib he is, he should have known, WHEN IN ROME, DO AS ROMANS DO; WHEN IN INDIA, DO AS INDIANS DO; WHEN IN INDIAN POLITICS, DO AS INDIAN POLITICIANS DO. He cannot carry his same international persona everywhere.

• Is education and good English a reason for not being corrupt

• He should have kept his profile low until the time is ripe. Hope he learns his lessons well in this hibernation period.

• Since middle class people don’t know the works that he do/ comment on the works he do (because its high end and not understandable by common man), they rather comment on his persona and language. Strange and weird things appeal to them more always.

• So, in politics and public sphere, whatever work you do, you need to interpret them in common man's way and only then you can connect/ relate you and your work with people around you. Or else people with misinterpret you and when any crisis happens you will be commented only on the non-essentials. The essentials will hide back behind the veils.

• So is it that India and Indian media misunderstood ST – his sensibility and vocabulary.

Moral: TALENT IS NOT ENOUGH – DEXTERITY IS NEEDED.

( I don’t back anybody. Personally I believed that the only problem with ST was being super smart, glib, irresponsible, flamboyant and handsome. And that he had no reasons for being corrupt. But slowly this notion of him (in me) is changing and doubt if he is a sophisticated criminal. Who knows? It would have been good of him and Sunanda to have cleared this mess and prove that they are not guilty. But instead, she surrendered the equity and he the post. Sweetheart actions? Now that he has resigned, his guilt is no more a story, but a history. Time only will tell if he bounces back into action after hibernation or seek refuge in other abode/ ventures. Remember, after his thirty year UN stint he became the chairman of Dubai-based Afras Ventures in 2007, but quit the job when he contested the parliamentary elections in 2009.)

(And speaking of Modi, he was undoubtedly the best in churning money out of IPL. IPL which earned in a little over millions before him had cash rain of over a billion after. He had relentless and get go energy. He wanted to create all the time. His vast networking skill is a thing to be awed. But with no regulation for IPL, he was running it like a personal fiefdom and unknown and strange equity holders in it and his family members also having stake. Although very capable he is, running this huge nexus group (people who even don’t know the meaning of bat and ball) involving stakeholders, cricketers, bollywood, politicians, D-group involves compromises, nepotism and corruption on the way. Could he then have been untainted? Whatever it is, now that he is caught, bowled and stumped can anyone replace his position and take the IPL forward without losing its sheen and enthusiasm.)

‘Nalladhoar Veenai Seydhae’ - a complete bliss

It was one fine evening last week. I was reliving my memories by glancing through some photos and listening to some songs in my laptop. And accidently I bounced upon this song ‘Nalladhoar veenai Seydhae’ by Mahakavi Bharathi. And believe me, it was such a bliss listening to this song. Having got inspired by this song, I set out to find what those wise words meant. And here it is for you.

nalladhoar veenai seydhae (I) made a noble veena - adhai
nalangedap puzhudhiyil erivadhundoa
Would (I) throw it in the garbage?

(nalladhoar)

solladi sivasakthi Answer me oh Goddess - enaich
chudarmigum arivudan padaiththuvittaay
Why create me with a sparkling wisdom?
vallamai thaaraayoa - indha
maanilam payanura vaazhvadharkae
Wont you give skill and brilliance to make
the society lead a purposeful life
solladi sivasakthi - nilach
chumaiyena vaazhndhidap puriguvaiyoa
Answer me oh Goddess
will you make them live as a
burden to the land they stand on ?

(nalladhoar)

visaiyurup pandhinaip poal - ullam
vaendiyapadi seyyum udal kaettaen
Like a moving ball - Give me a body
that moves in any way my mind directs
nasaiyaru manam kaettaen - niththam
navamenach chudar tharum uyir kaettaen...uyir kaettaen...uyir kaettaen
Give me a untarnished mind - and a
life that would light up life
thasaiyinaith theechchudinum - siva
sakthiyaip paadum nallagam kaettaen
Give me the drive to sing about
sivasakthi long after this body is burnt
asaivuru madhi kaettaen - ivai
arulvadhil unakkedhum thadaiyuladhoa (2)
And gimme an immovable confidence - Do you
have any problem in granting this?

(nalladhoar)

BRIDGING THE TECH GENDER DIVIDE

I was just randomly thinking about the approach to gadgets and apparels by men and women. And here are some of the conclusions I made (Contradictions and exceptions may exist).

Traditionally only men were more tech savvy. Now with more women being educated and on the forefront of workforce, they also become more tech savvy – they are still not novice in using tech gadgets – but yet there is a difference in how men and women view and approach technology!

• Men change gadgets more often when they find the novelty value disappearing. Though modern women may also change gadgets often, generally women tend to cling to their old gadgets. Since women always have an emotional streak to all their possessions – they don’t want to let their possessions go off their hands (whatever – whether gadgets they hold or people in their lives they really love!)

• Men tend to assume they know all with the gadgets. So they may not read through the manual or the instruction set. They are always hands-on with the gadgets. Women always read through the manual and tend to take time in handling the gadgets. (Men also tend to be easier with the tech terms than women)

• But women are too busy to sit down and find something more with the gadget. For men gadgets are part of their life. Men seem to have all the time in the world to sit with the gadgets, dismantle it and even play with it! (Men treat technology as something to be understood and conquered)

• Women may use more of customer service care than men

• The shell life of a gadget with women tends to be more compared with the same gadget to a man. Women are generally savvier handling any objects and tend to hold their possessions dear.

• Generally it is said that men are better drivers than women. Yes. But men violate more traffic laws and drive dangerously than women. So who are better as well as safe drivers? Think out?

• Men may be attracted to something immediately if an item has novelty factor attached to it. Women always want their specifications right. Whether it is in dealing with a gadget or cosmetic or any consumable item. Women want to always have a feel good factor. (It is women who always check to fat content on a food item!)

• Men stick to always the dull and boring black or white in apparels. Women always want their apparels to be colourful and add a fun streak to it.

• Women are big influencers on household apparels. Men consult their wives for getting these. But men are influencers on automobiles, mobile gadgets. Women consult their husbands before buying them

To put in a nutshell, men are hardcore tech savvy and women are softcore tech savvy.

For a man, gadgets are part and parcel of life. For a woman gadgets are part of their life only if it makes their life easier.

WOMEN LOOK FOR FASHION, FUNCTION AND CONVNIENCE IN GADGETS.

Though more women are becoming tech savvy, still a lot of tech gadgets are targeted towards males. Companies miss out on the potential woman customers. Yes women are hard specimens to please than men. But tweak the same apparels to being sleeker and sassy. The women market will then be yours.

Yippee! Finally created a blog. Ultimately, an outlet for my thought overflow.

What and how should be my first post like...I was thinking...It struck me then...Every year Women's day is celebrated on March 8. So this post is dedicated to women all over the world who strive to bring change in the realms surrounding them. Let's hail the spirit of women and encourage them forever.
